SELAYARPOS.COM ■ Chairperson of the Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association (ICMI) Jimly Asshiddiqie expressed his sorrow for the death of the 3rd President of the Republic of Indonesia Baharudin Jusuf (BJ) Habibie Wednesday (11/9).
Representing the entire ICMI extended family, Jimly said his sadness over the passing of BJ Habibie at 18.05 WIB at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital.
"I deeply mourn deeply. I express my condolences on behalf of ICMI for the death of BJ Habibie. We pray that all the deeds of the deceased will be accepted by Allah SWT," said Jimly, at the residence of the late BJ Habibie, in Kuningan Persada, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (11/11) 9/2019).
Before his last breath, Jimly revealed that the founder and former first chairman of ICMI gave a special message.
First, the husband of the late Hasri Ainun Besari advised that ICMI's consistency in fighting for Imam and Taqwa (IMTAQ) continue to be fought.
Secondly, Habibie advised how ICMI would continue to spearhead national unity. ICMI is expected to continue to be able to strengthen unity among people in Indonesia.
"Continuing to glue, embrace, knit national unity, the unity of Muslims, national unity, so do not let ICMI be compartmentalized based on flow and class," said Jimly.
Most importantly according to Jimly, the late BJ Habibie advised that ICMI always instill the importance of national unity. "And he always instilled the importance of caring for, cementing national unity," explained Jimly.
It is known, BJ Habibie was born in Parepare, South Sulawesi on June 25, 1936. Habibie died after battling his heart disease.
